Trying to lead the thought and theory of individual career management to teacher management in high school widened the theoretical field of individual career management research,simultaneously enriched the field of teachers' management,and provided a new concept and method of management for our teachers' management.At the individual level,based on the problems of the former researches,this study investigated the importance of individual career management in understanding employees' career success in the cultural background of china.There were three steps in this study:firstly,measurement scale for Individual Career Management of high school teachers was complied.After integrating different theories of individual career management by literature review,the concept of Individual Career Management was redefined in Chinese context.Items for the measure were collected by interview and open questionnaire.After the work of discussion,items evaluation,trial measure and revision,31 items were accepted eventually.Secondly, preliminary measure was implemented.After project analysis,correlate analysis and Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) of data from a sample of 206 employees from high school in Kaifeng City,3 items with different meaning were deleted.Thirdly,formal measure was implemented.The formal questionnaire(39 items) was composed of the scales for individual career managemen(28 items),perceived internal marketability(3 items),perceived external marketability(3 items),perceived career satisfaction(5 items).Though Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) of data from an other sample of 407 employees indicated a 5-dimension structure of accessed individual career management:education and teaching,interpersonal communication,goal planning,career development,and understanding of organizations. The effect on individual career management and career success of demographic and organizational variables was investigated.Finally,Correlate analysis,regression analysis and Structural equation model(SEM) were used to explore the relationship among different dimensions of individual career management and career success.
