| Student management is an important part of education administration in universities.It plays a key role in the students' development and the stability of colleges and universities. During several decades' transformation,student management in our country has formed a basic system on the foundation of "university—department—grades",which made a profound impact on improving students' political consciousness and promoting their healthy growth.However,in 1990s,especially the university expansion from 1999,the situation that the university is confronting at home and abroad has changed a lot,which involves students' enlargement,the variety and diversity of students,and so on.To adapt to social development,student managing practitioners and researchers still explore more effective student management system,which will afford to the times.The academy institution blends with the advantages of shu yuan and residential college system, the humanities spirit and general education in ancient China and in western countries,hoping to find out a new way for traditional student management.This paper initially analyzes the academy institution,it consists of five parts.The first part which is a brief introduction to the research,combs with the relative study results,then it expounds some concepts,and discusses the aim and significance of this paper.The second part supports theoretical bases for the thesis.From the third part,it starts into the main points and difficult points of this study.The third chapter makes a detailed analysis of this innovative system,including the practices,reasons,characteristics and meanings of academy institution.The next part looks back the history of residential college system of the Great Britain and USA.By the retrospect of the origin and establishment,it also provides some valuable enlightenment for the academy institution in our country.At last,this paper analyzes problems and solutions to the new system,trying to probe its possible orientation.
