After World War II, the development of the modern industry offered a new life style and goods. As a consequence, the people could enjoy the following convenient and luxurious life. On the basis of meeting consumers'basic demands, the abundance of the goods lured them to a higher consumption gradually and the desires expanded simultaneously. Under this stimulation, our consumption style and concept changed little by little. Then the consumerism, a new consumption style and concept different from the thrifty consumption, emerged as the times require. In the 1980s, our consumption concept and style were in line with the international one because of the reforming and opening and the development of the market economy. However, various consumption myths appeared. The detrimental consumption culture and ideology, whose representative is the consumerism, must have serious negative influences on the adolescent and the school moral education. This paper, based on the knowledge and comprehension of the consumerism, analyzes these effects, puts forward the measures of the moral education and tries to find the optimized means to clear up the consumerism's negative influences.There are many researches on the moral education and the consumption culture in the recent years, but few researches on the moral development and education of the adolescent are based on the consumption culture, especially under the environment of the prevailing consumption culture of our country. Therefore, this paper makes a research on the consumption culture's present and possible influences on the social ethics and the moral development of the adolescent, finds the advantages and disadvantages, meets directly the cultural difficulties of the moral education, and gropes for the educational functions the moral education must and can perform under the environment of the consumption culture.This paper consists of three parts:The first part is a brief introduction to the present consumption culture in our country. The writer, through the analysis of the consumerism's meaning and characteristics, gets the connotation of the consumption culture and then points out why our consumption culture could form and how it behaves. The second part discusses the impulsion and challenges that the consumerism brings to the adolescent and school moral education. First, the writer discusses the consumption culture's influences on the social ethics, including the formation of the consumption culture and the prevalence of the value nihilism. Second, the writer points out the consumption culture's influences on the development of the adolescent morality, especially the negative ones. These influences include the crisis of the moral belief, the lack of the moral emotion, the weakness of the moral will and the negative model of the moral behavior. At last, the writer analyses the bewilderment that the consumption culture brings to the school moral education. This aspect consists of the consumptive necessity of the school moral education, the aim of the school moral education and the strategies of the moral education we should take in practice.The third part, on the basis of the second part, puts forward the plans of the school moral education. First, the write analyzes the condition of the school moral education, i.e. the necessity to clear up the negative influences of the consumption culture. Then, the writer brings forward the aim of the school moral education under the influence of the consumerism. Last but not least, the writer sets forth the principles and contents of the school moral education. The contents include the informative and effective materials of the moral education, the desires of the adolescent, the cultivation of the adolescent moral independence.
