The thesis analyzes the investigation of the rural secondary school physical education in some minority compact areas of Gansu by using such methods as literature review,typical investigation, questionnaire,mathematical statistics,and logical analysis and so on,discloses the problems existent in the rural secondary school physical education in some minority compact areas of Gansu, and explores development strategies of rural secondary school physical education in some minority compact areas of Gansu,to provide beneficial reference for the development of the rural secondary school physical education in some minority compact areas of Gansu.1.Major conclusions1.1 The organization and operation mechanism of the rural secondary school physical education in some minority compact areas of Gansu are normal.71.3%schools have leaders in charge of physical education.Yet the management of PE teaching is not in conformity with the norm and the implement of teaching documents is short of regularity are the main reasons for the casual PE teaching.1.2 90%of the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu have PE lessons,most can carry out normal or comparatively normal PE teaching,and most students like having PE lessons.However,the low rate of teaching plans,single teaching method, monotonous teaching contents,and single learning evaluation are the major problems existent in the PE teaching in the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu.1.3 Physical education in the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu seriously lacks of fund and the PE fund per man is very low.The simple and crude facility of PE teaching and the shortage of field and equipment are the biggest problem the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu face at present.1.4 The PE outclass activities are not carried out satisfactorily in the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu,except for the between-class exercises,morning exercises,after-class activity and contest are poor.The time for class PE exercises is not enough,events are menotonous,and the PE activity out of school is meager.1.5 The team of PE teachers in the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu is very young,their material benefits are lower than teachers of other subjects,PE teachers are lack of self-confidence and their ability to do scientific research is very poor, and students' total evaluation of them is low.There are short of PE teachers and full-time teachers.The total level of teachers' educational background is very low and the structure of their professional titles is unreasonable are the major factor hindering the development of the rural secondary schools in these areas.1.6 These schools and PE teachers' recognition of the new curriculum standard is enough and they have not carried out the new PE curriculum standard,and the development and employment of the PE curriculum resource is not enough are the pressing problems of the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu.2.Suggestions 2.1 The special facilitating mechanism of government or society supporting teachers,fund and material for the rural secondary schools in minority compact areas should be set up, because of the special environment and natural condition.2.2 In order to change substantially the physical education in the rural secondary schools in some minority compact areas of Gansu,the investment in basic education in minority areas should be increased,special investigation should be carried out,and the short-term and long-term plans suitable for these areas should be worked out.2.3 The departments concerned should work out the special policy for the teachers or helping teachers in the rural schools of minority areas and solve the problems of shortage of PE teachers in rural schools and low educational background.2.4 Special PE teaching material suitable for minority areas should be developed and compiled.
