Based on current Chinese teaching status quo in middle school and the standard of the new curriculum , tomeet the objective of cultivating students thinking ability,'a case study- Ning Hongbin's Chinese teaching ofcultivating students thinking ability in middle school'was put forward.At present, formalization and marginalization in Chinese teaching when it comes to cultivate studentsthinking ability commonly exists. It is against the standard of the new curriculum. The reason that the problememerged is not theoretical but practical. In teaching theory, the importance of cultivating students thinkingability in first language teaching is agreed not only in Chinese history but in western countries as well.However, in teaching practice, research about how to train and cultivate students thinking ability is quite rare.The author chose a successful teaching model, which was from her coworker Ning Hongbin, to explore theexperience and details of the operating procedure in his teaching.Ning Hongbin is a famous reformer in Chinese teaching. In his teaching and reforming practice, trainingand cultivating students thinking ability was accomplished on a large scale. This research focuses on his theoperating procedure and methods in his Chinese teaching.Based on the research of Ning Hongbin's teaching cases and the visits with him in person, the frame of hiscultivating students thinking ability in middle school Chinese teaching was established. It is divided into fiveaspects. (1) Pay attention to microscope when cultivating students thinking ability. This article furtherillustrates by Ning Hongbin's ingenious title using and creatively retelling of a story. (2) Pay attention tohierarchy when cultivating students thinking ability. In this part, this article explains Ning Hongbin's methodsof delivering knowledge and discovering the core ideas. (3) Enhance the content of Chinese learning. Thisarticle explores how and when Ning Hongbin adds relevant materials in the class to develop student's radiationthinking ability. (4) Inspire students by effectively questioning. Ning Hongbin takes'question'as a clue in histeaching activities to promote the development of students'creativity. (5) Establish basic ability and developreasonable thinking habit. Ning Hongbin has foresight to develop students thinking habit such as summary andsystematization in his teaching. It greatly improves students'Chinese learning outcome.Ning Hongbin represents the older generation of the reformers in Chinese teaching. Their teachingawareness, strong will and creativity realized the prosperous of Chinese teaching in 20th century. NingHongbin's future education view is to cultivate elites for 21st century, which would have significant influenceon Chinese teaching.
