The research,on the basis of present female university teachers' body-building states, physical features and mental conditions,takes yoga combination as the exercising practice, which is scientific,artistic,opsonic and fat-reducing.By comparing researches,data on female teachers at Hebei Normal University in aspects of physical shape,physical functioning,physical quality and mental health are collected to address the effects of yoga practice on physical and mental health of female university teachers.It provides some tentative suggestions on how to help yoga to be popularized in female university teachers, increase their body-building awareness,enhance their physical and mental healthy level, and reduce their physical and mental pressure.Therefore,it is a valuable research topic in application.In the paper,literature review,investigation,empirical research and data statistics are used to study the effect of yoga on physical and mental healthy of female teachers at Hebei Normal University.The research results show that practicing yoga is very significantly effective in improving female teachers' physical shape.The mean weight of the experiment group before the experiment is 57.72 kg,and the figure it turned to 54.67 kg after the experiment.The difference is highly significant after t-test(p<0.01).The mean weight difference between the experiment group after the experiment and the control group at the second measurement is 5.05 kg,which is significant after t-test(p<0.05). The two evolutive indexes of lean weight and fat rate show significantly difference(p<0.01) for the experiment group before and after the experiment,and between the experiment group and the control group,suggesting the decrease of fat rate and the increase of lean weight.The various fat thickness show significant difference for the experiment group before and after the experiment and between the experiment group after the experiment and the control group at the second measurement.All these show that yoga plays a certain role in fat-reducing and weight-controlling.Yoga is very effective in improving some physiological functions of female teachers. The breathing capacity,heart rate,vo2 of the experiment group before and after the experiment all show significant difference.After a semester's yoga practice,the breathing capacity of female teachers at Hebei Normal University is significantly increased,the heart rate is greatly reduced,and vo2 shows an increasing tendency.After a semester's yoga practice,the breathing capacity and vo2 of the experiment are significantly different from those of the control group at the second measurement since they both increase much. The heart rate of the experiment group decreases and is significantly difference from that of the control group at the second measurement.Yoga practice is effective in improving female teachers' balance force and pliability at Hebei normal university.After a semester's practice,female teachers at Hebei normal university can extend the mean time of closed-eyed single-foot standing from 12.28 seconds to 20.56 seconds,with the mean extension being 8.28 seconds.It shows that various yoga motions are beneficial to practitioners' balancing force.Female teachers at Hebei normal university show significant difference in forward split and sitting-positioned forward bending in self-comparison before and after the experiment,and in comparison with the control group.The difference is highly significant after t-test(p<0.01).It shows that yoga practice may help enlarge female teachers' joint movement scale and improve the elasticity of muscle and ligament.Yoga is also effective in improving female teachers' mental constitution,making significant and highly significant differences in interpersonal sensitivity,insanity, depression,compulsive disorder and phobia.There are highly significant differences in various mental indexes between female teachers practicing yoga and those who do not at the second survey.After a semester's practice,female teachers at Hebei normal university get improved mental health level,and various mental indexes tend to suggest more even-tempered.They tend to have less depression or other unhealthy mental states,and tend to be more confident and build good interpersonal relationships.
