Since the first day it got into the Chinese textbook,foreign works has existed nearly a history of a century.In this century,the foreign works has carried out from little to much,from simple to consummation, and achieved a qualitative leap.Through specific and careful analysis into the selected works,this text aims at pointing out the achievements and shortcomings of the ways in selecting and arranging foreign works in current high and middle school's textbooks,and tries to establish a new and more reasonable system of selection and arrangement in order to guarantee that the students can learn specific and useful knowledge in studying foreign works.The thesis consists of four parts.The first part take the Chinese textbook which published by People's Educational Press as an example,make it clearly about the history of foreign works since the evolution of the Chinese Curriculum Standard. And then make analyses of the new textbooks of People's Educational Press(the experimental-edition),Shandong-Edition and Jiangsu-Edition, in order to find the similarities and differences of the three.The second part is to analyze the purpose and value about the foreign works which selected.The third part will research into the teaching method of foreign works from single to comparative study,in order to find the strengths and weaknesses from the examples of specific teaching.The last part is to sum up and give some advice:it is necessary to expand the time and geographical scope of foreign works,to reduce the number of science and technology works,the authors should be diversify,the works should show more aesthetic and educational value,and the exercises of foreign works required scientific design.
