| In today's society, lifelong learning has been generally accepted. And with the progress in science and the development of information technology, in particular, the wide application of computer network technology in the field of education provides the possibility for life-long education. In 1998, approved by the Ministry of Education, Qinghua University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Zhejiang University and Hunan University began to carry out pilot projects in modern distance education, by means of computer networks and multimedia technology. Subsequently, all types of schools at all levels were eager follow suit in developing distance education: a large number of distance education training organizations have been established and at present there are 69 higher institutions engaged in modern distance education projects, with over 3 million students"on campus". Distance education is developing so rapidly, so how to evaluate the merits and demerits of distance education remains an issue for people involved in educationcircles. However, there isn't an authoratative or uniform evaluation system for distance education in China Therefore, it is of significant value to establish a comprehensive evaluation system for distance education, in order to meet the needs of distance education development and to promote the cause of distance education.Distance Education has developed to the third generation: the modern distance education. It combines the technology of computer networks and multimedia technology, a new way of distance education, a distance education mode of integrated application of a modern communications of network and information processing technologies. So the modern distance education network is also called as network education. This paper attempts to make a scientific and effective evaluation of network education. The so-called evaluation is the process of making value judgments. The rules of education evaluation use modern scientific methods and technical means to collect and process data of the education phenomenon related to evaluation object. Meantime we will analyze the processing results and make a value judgments so as to provide feedback information and argumentation for decision and management. While evaluation rules of network education is the process of making value judgments of exerting network education function and the gained results. It uses modern scientific methods and technologic means, considering network as an object, basing on the aims of network education and certain evaluation criterions.In this paper, I first make a comparative analysis of domestic and international network development of educational evaluation based on the thorough analysis of existing literature. Secondly we analyze the of network education and attempt to construct evaluation criterion and methods suitable for the development of domestic education according to the principles of education evaluation, combined with the existing the evaluation criterion to the network education and the actual situation of the development of education in our country. |
