In September of 2007, over twelve thousands high school graduates, in the identity of tuition-free normal college students, entered six normal universities directly under the management of the Ministry of Education. These students are the first batch of beneficiaries since the Chinese government readopts the policy of training the normal college students for free. Most of them come from middle and west part of china, and they will become the fresh blood for the education of basic level in their home towns after four years later.The most important factor in the education is the role of teachers. From this point, the foster of normal college students can make a country prosperous. Conducting the policy of training the normal college students for free is aimed to create the atmosphere of respecting teachers over the whole society so that more talents will be willing to be a teacher for lifelong to make the western of China become better.By combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, it is vital and indispensable to do certain investigation on the situation of their occupational attitude to gives some advice both to school and government. Meanwhile based on the investigation, the possible causes which affect occupational attitude about teachers is discussed in this paper, so some messages could be provided on psychological counseling in campus.Taking tuition-free normal college students as our research objects, which is a new group reviewing the theories about it, and combining quantitative and qualitative research methods.The main results and conclusions of the thesis are: 1) There are significant differences in some dimensions of career value such as developing,welfare and company's prestige between the tuition-free normal college students and other normal college students. 2) The occupational attitude about teacher of the tuition-free normal college students is more active than other normal college students in in all dimensions while individual differences exist among the the tuition-free normal college students to some degree. 3) In the group of the tuition-free normal college students, the ones holding positive attitude about teachers are different with the passive ones ,as the career value concerned. 4) for the tuition-free normal college students, the occupational attitude about teachers can influence their mental health. Those students who hold passive attitude appears to have more mental problems than the others. 5) The tuition-free normal college students are more likely to have the feeling of inferior and recoil when they suffer something unpleasant or difficult. Meanwhile, other normal college students are more likely to rely on others than the tuition-free normal college students.
