The employment of the university graduates is always attracting great attention from the society.Since the college enrollment expansion in 1999,great changes have taken place with the transition of the higher education from an elite-oriented education to a popularized education.In 2009,the financial crisis in the United States spread abroad and made great influence on the economy in our nation.It makes the employment of 2009' university graduates more serious.Now the problem of college graduates' employment has became a remarkable issue for the whole society. Meanwhile,enterprises also have the trouble in recruiting the college graduates they are looking forward to.It is so-called 'employment gap'.Based on such background, this research focuses on the employability of the college students.First,examine the current situation of the college graduates' employability;second,study the difference of the college graduates' employability with different backgrounds;then analyze the requirement of the enterprises for the employability of the college graduates;and then compare the difference of employability between the college graduates' self-recognition and the enterprises' requirement;at last,give some advice on how to improve college students' employability for students themselves,university, enterprises,government and for further research.For the research,'questionnaire for the employability of the college graduates—students' version' was designed on references of literatures and revised according to the results of small scale tests.The sample consisted of 630 college graduates from 7 colleges in shanghai area.Besides,'questionnaire for the employability of the college graduates—enterprises' version' was also designed and 99 persons were investigated including human resource specialist,supervisors and staffers.Based on the first-hand data obtained,SPSS 13.0 was adopted as the statistical software with major analytical methods such as Descriptive Analysis, Factor Analysis,Reliability Analysis,T-Test,One-way ANOVA,Pearson Correlation Analysis.Moreover,4 HR specialist and 4 supervisors were interviewed for the further research of the problems emerging from the questionnaire.The conclusions derived from the investigations and interviews are as follows:1.The employability of the college graduates' self-recognition is not very high. 2.The better the college graduates perform in self management,team work, communication,problem solving and planning and organizing,the better they show in whole employability.3.The employability of the college graduates differentiates significantly due to different gender,political appearance,leadership experience,working experience and different major.4.There exists great difference of employability between the college graduates' self-recognition and the enterprises' requirement on assessing personal strengths and areas for development,being flexible and adaptable,taking great responsibility, communicating,applying a range of strategy to problem solving,establishing clear project goals.At last,according to the above conclusions,the following suggestions are given:1.For college students:to assess personal strength exactly and establish appropriate expectation for employment;to prepare in advance to make personal career planning;to join in social practice to acquaint themselves with the social environment;to perfect personal knowledge and ability by keeping considering and studying;to adjust themselves to the social environment and become hard-working.2.For colleges:to train talents adapting to social requirement;to adjust curriculum setting according to the requirement of the market;to concern with the instruction of career planning for college students;to carry out the guidance for the college students' employment;to cooperate with enterprises.3.For enterprises:to form 'intern system';to set up 'master-prentice system';to give training course for' social freshman'..4.For government:to develop the rights for colleges to run independently;to set up 'medium platform for employment'.5.For further research:to enlarge the range of the research;to improve the research methods;to study the factors which effect the college graduates' employability.
