The number of higher education graduates increases every year because of the continuous enrollment since the 1999, the employment squeeze has became an important social issue, and attracts more and more attentions from the society Especially with the rapid economic and social development, scientific and technological level of progress, the third industrial revolution brought about great changes in the organization of production and lifestyle patterns, making the job market has undergone tremendous changes. The "structural imbalance" is serious in China’s employment market, the college graduates feel very hard to find a job, but at the same time the enterprises have difficulty in recruitment. The mismatch between the higher education talents and the labor market is an important cause of these problems. At the same time, with the popularization of higher education continues to advance, the community gives more and more attention to the process of reform of the higher education system, to explore the diverse types and rationalization of higher education has became a common trend in the whole world. In recent years, the development of application-oriented education becomes orientation and objective of many universities. The biggest difference between application-oriented talents and traditional talents is its distinctive "applied".This study is based on the realistic background, select the "employability" as research subject, and "application-oriented" as the research object, related to the employment problem of two bodies-students and employers, analysis the situation of graduates’employ ability and the needs of employers, then compare them and give proposals to enhance the ability of college students.This paper is divided into six parts, the first chapter is an introduction to explain the origin of this study, the theoretical and practical significance of this study. Then summarize the earlier researches and some core concepts of this study, including the ability and employability, from the content and structure, to lay the theoretical foundation for the follow-up study. And explain the research framework, the research method, in addition affirmed innovation of this study.The second, third and fourth chapter are investigation and analysis part of this study. Chapters two is from the graduates’ view and chapter three is from the employers’view, the forth chapter compare the two views and analyze the reasons for the differences.The fifth chapter is the recommendations. Summary the study’s conclusions, and give targeted recommendations from two angles——individual students and application oriented university based on the conclusions.The sixth chapter is the conclusion and prospects. Summarize the conclusions of the study and point out the limitations, and then propose further research directions.
