An Investigation And Analysis Of Urban Merging For The Children Of Minority Floating Population In Lanzhou Qilihe

In this thesis, in order to analyze the status of merging into the city life for the children of minority floating population in region of QiLiHe, Lanzhou city, a questionnaire survey and in-depth field interviews and other methods of investigation are used to get some information for the children about education, culture and mentality etc. The results showed that these children have many characteristics, such as satisfaction with city life, good ability of adapting to city culture, but at the same time, there are more problems for the minority children to acclimatize themselves to the city, so the level of overall merging for them is lower.First, considering the aspect of education, children of minority floating population shows a strong desirability for study, however, the problems are also obvious. The difficulties mainly are: 1. poor knowledge and bad study habit; 2. bad circumstances of family; 3. too old to adapt the new circumstance; Second, considering the aspect of culture, there are some characteristics such as good adaptation to the urban culture, the desire to study ethical knowledge and the understanding to change of ethical culture; however, minority language is the main influence factor for their merging; Third, considering the aspect of mentality, the minority children in QiLiHe have unique characteristics, including satisfaction with city life and guest feeling for the city identities; Compared with other children of floating population, the minority children in QiLiHe shows general characteristics not only inferiority but also the strong desirability to communicate with same ethnic children.In the above basis, the author analyses the causes of above characteristics. It can be concluded that four aspects can affect the adapting to city life for the children of minority floating population, including the culture and education differences caused by space time change, lack of ability to accept the children and some reasons of themselves. In addition, the environment of inflowing region of minority makes the children satisfy with city life and have good ability to merging into city culture. Finally, the author gives some advice, such as to build special school and compile special books, in order to make children merging into the city life better.
