A Research On The Status Quo Of Neijiang Kindergarten Teachers' Job Burnout And It's Influencing Factors | | Posted on:2010-08-13 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:L Lin | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2167360275952243 | Subject:Pre-primary Education | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Job burnout is a term that refers to such symptoms as emotion exhaustion, dehumanization and reduced personal accomplishment which is manifested by individuals when they can not meet some demanding requirements that outrun their ability and resources.Teachers' job burnout is an extreme reaction when they fail to cope successfully with career pressure.It is shown as teachers' exhaustion of emotion, attitude and action when they are under pressure for too long a time.When speaking of job burnout,teachers are at high risk.When they have a sense of job burnout,they are more likely to lose patience and love for students and their sense of accomplishment would be declined.It will greatly affect teachers' mind and body health,and consequently,influence their teaching quality.It will have a negative influence on students' growth.Kindergarten education is an important part of basic education.It is also the foundation stage of China's school education and life-long education. Kindergarten teachers play an important role in children's growth,so their mind and body health is of great importance.As a negative factor,kindergarten teachers' job burnout will have a big influence on young children's growth,even on their whole life, so it is of high significance for us to know the status quo of kindergarten teachers' job burnout and the main factors leading to it.The object of this research is 320 kindergarten teachers of 18 kindergartens in Neijiang.It takes the method of questionnaire and interviews.It analyzes the status quo of job burnout of Neijiang kindergarten teachers from different kinds of kindergartens, of different age,length of teaching,professional title and marital status and its influencing factours from three dimensionalities of emotional exhaustion, depersonization and reduced personal accomplishment.This paper also makes some suggestions on how to relieve Neijiang's kindergarten teachers' job burnout.The research shows that:Neijiang's kindergarten teachers' job burnout is mainly shown in the following aspects.1.Kindergarten teachers' job burnout is prominently shown as emotional exhaustion.2.Public kindergarten teachers' job burnout is more serious than that of the private kindergarten teachers.3.Married teachers' job burnout is more serious than that of the single teachers but they tend to have a higher sense of personal accomplishment than that of the single teachers.4.With the growth of age,length of teaching and the advancement of professional title,teachers' emotional exhaustion and depersonalization will be intensified,but the degree to which reduced personal accomplishment is lowered.5.There is no obvious difference in the emotional exhaustion,depersonalization and the declining sense of personal accomplishment manifested by teachers who are from classes of different age and with different academic qualification.The main factors which influence kindergarten teachers' job burnout in Neijiang are as follows.1.Parents have too high expectations from teachers while teachers do not feel respected by parents.2.Society has too high and too demanding expectations from teachers.3.Many kindergarten teachers feel extremely guilty towards their own children.4.The teaching and nursing responsibility is heavy,the amount of work is large and the working time is long.5.The heavy responsibility of ensuring kindergarten children's safety puts great pressure on teachers.6.Kindergarten teachers are inadequately paid and do not enjoy good welfare treatment.7.All kinds of inspections and activities interfere with teachers' routine work.8.Kindergarten teachers' needs of professional development cannot be satisfied.9.Personal background factors also have an influence on kindergarten teachers' sense of job burnout.To relieve kindergarten teachers' job burnout,the following measures can be taken.Teachers' socioeconomic status should be upgraded;the expectations from teachers should be reasonable;society and family should shoulder corresponding educating duty;teachers should have more autonomy and controllability over their work;some excitation mechanism should be taken to strengthen teachers' sense of accomplishment;kindergarten should have its organization culture;the cultivation of kindergarten teachers at their different stage of professional development should be strengthened;kindergarten teachers' mental health education should be strengthened. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | kindergarten teachers, job burnout, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, sense of personal accomplishment | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
