Moral Identity(Moral Self-identity) is the subjective sense and experience of the consistency and continuity of the individual in the past, present and future of the space-time in the moral aspects,as well as the perception of others to the consistency and continuity. It is the self-integration of individual in the moral environment. The study is valuable for understanding undergraduates' psychological development, and for moral education, personality development guidance. It is also significant for moral psychology and identity theory.Based on overviews of former research and open-ended questionnaire, this study puts forward its own theoretical hypothesis, and forms undergraduates' moral identity questionnaire, then using it to research the development of undergraduates' moral identity.Study aims to:(1) using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to study the structure of undergraduates' moral identity;(2) to self-made the moral identity questionnaire;(3) survey the development of undergraduates' moral identity. Then investigate 1316 undergraduates by formal questionnaire. The results of this study follow as:1.According to the theoretical concept, through the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, the structure of undergraduates' moral identity is a four-factor model containing interpersonal performance consistency, altruism consistency, moral self-consistency,and moral environment agreement.2.The self-made "Moral Identity Questionnaire" has good reliability and validity. It can be used as an evaluation tool for measuring undergraduates' moral identity. 3.Generally,the total undergraduates' moral identity develops like a down "V" figure. The development of moral identity of sophomore students is in the highest level, followed by a downward trend, the lowest in the senior.4.The development of undergraduates' moral identity is in the middle and upper level, with overall average score of 3.55 points. It is uneven development among the factors. The interpersonal performance consistency dimension scored the highest, followed by the moral environment agreement, altruism consistency, and the moral self-consistency have the lowest score.5.There is not significant difference in total moral identity from gender, ethnicity, school type, major type.Grade difference is significant in the total average and all dimensions.Among them, the scores of sophomore students in total average, altruism consistency, moral environment agreement, moral self-consistency are significantly higher than that of other grades. The senior students get the lowest scores in total average, the interpersonal consistency, altruism consistency, moral environment agreement.6.There is a significant difference in total moral identity and all dimensions between student leaders and non-student leaders. The scores of student leaders were significantly higher than non-student leaders.7.There is significant gender difference on the interpersonal performance consistency, that girls get higher score than boys. There is significant ethnic difference on altruism consistency, that minority students showed more desire and acts of altruism.
