Forgiveness is a behavior that victims give up their anger,revenge,and desire to seek fair towards offenders as well as show goodness to them.Under the help of forgiveness,people will enhance virtue cultivate as well as keep healthy in body and mind.In addition, forgiveness is helpful for people to acquire active strategies dealing with interpersonal conflicts and build harmonious relationship with others.In this study,the author created a Forgiveness Style Questionnaire for college students.By using this questionnaire,we can understand college students' cognitive development in comprehending forgiveness.By this way,we can provide theoretical evidence for forgiveness education and enrich the outcome of forgiveness research in our country.On the basis of theoretical study in foreign country,the author built a theoretical modal for college students in our country,which is based on questionnaire inventory and interview. According to this modal,the author created an initial Forgiveness Style Questionnaire.Then the formal questionnaire was constructed by analyzing factor structure and reliability of the initial questionnaire.After that,the formal questionnaire's reliability and validity were tested through many ways and showed out the characteristics of college students' forgiveness style.This study makes the following conclusions:Forgiveness Style Questionnaire is composed by 6 dimensions:Conditional or Restitutional Forgiveness,Expectational Forgiveness,Lawful Expectational Forgivenss, Forgiveness as Social Harmony,Forgivenss as Heart Harmony and Forgiveness as Love.Concordance coefficient,split-half coefficient and test-retest coefficient were used to test reliability of the questionnaire.The results show that all these coefficients meet the criterion of psychometrics,which indicate that the questionnaire has a good reliability.Structure validity and content validity were used to test validity of the questionnaire.The correlation coefficient between each factor and the sum of questionnaire was more than 0.5, which shows that all elements can reflect exactly what the questionnaire aims to survey;at the same time,the correlation coefficient between one factor and another was moderate,which indicates that all factors are independent from each other.Confirmatory factor analysis also shows that all indexes meet standards of psychometrics,which indicates that the questionnaire has good structure validity.In addition,content validity analysis shows that the questionnaire can reflect the true situation of our college students.So this questionnaire also has good content validity.As for the college students,the dimensions rank from high score to low score in following sequence:Forgiveness as Heart Harmony,Forgiveness as Social Harmony,Lawful Expectational Forgiveness,Forgiveness as Love,Conditional or Restitutional Forgiveness and Expectational Forgiveness.There's significant difference between sex,educational background,grade,major and singleton or not.
