Along with the development of human civilization and the progress of the technology,the area of the human visual expanded continuously,and enters an era of "pictures reading". Pictures and video are reshaping the human's memories and experiences,the comprehension, the evaluation,the utilization,the creation,and the ability of communicating of the visual information which is ubiquity become an important index to measure the comprehensive quality."Visual literacy" arose wide concern in the Europe and America since 60'last century, which is based on tracking experiments and the empirical investigation,and obtain a series of periodic achievements.Visual Literacy research just emerged,and many for fundamental research.Based on the empirical investigation,combined methods of questionnaire survey and depth interview from December 15th to 25th in 2008,using multistage random sampling to select investigation object,collect firsthand material scientifically of the college students' Visual Literacy in Dalian,conform data by SPSS,this article describes current situation and insufficiency in the methods of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis:Aware and Recognize Ability——displays intensely by chance to the visual information,especially to the dynamic visual information mark,the cultural value measurement level still permissible,the classics/non-classical phantom memory ability diversity to have differences;Understand and Cognitive Ability——the shallow explanation owes comprehensively,the depth explanation answer is bountiful,the independent thinking easily influenced by outside information,critique ability is been easily miniscule;Application and Communicate Ability——the degree of visual dissemination methods to be enhanced,the dissemination visual information form and the content are difficult to unify,the skilled innovation and dissemination ability are unable to manifest and so on.And then,the article use "Elaboration Likelihood" of the Sociology,and the theory of the "Redundant Information" of Informationism,analyze the reason that block the form and the develop of the ability in depth:birth environmental art gradually influence with the childhood practices insufficiency,does not favor the visual accomplishment the preliminary formation, the frequent media contact behavior,although may improve the explanation and the memory and so on of partial aware and recognize ability,understand and the cognitive capacity, simultaneously may cause college students excessive dependence to medium,and be short of visual information critique and independent thinking ability;academic motivation defective subjectively,learning opportunity flaw objectively,also be important factors to hinder the application and communication ability initially forms.Correspondingly address strategic that breed the college students visual literacy by government propaganda and medium "gate keeping" to construct of media environment,by school edition and family cultivation to promote talent stimulation,and by learning opportunity achieve and individual independent study to complete visual literacy foster.
