Mathematics Project-Based Learning is a new added content with features of the times in . As the main learning form of the"practice and comprehensive application"part in junior high school, PBL, which reflects the demands of mathematics curriculum reform, provides students an opportunity to perform a practical, exploring and inquiry study. But in the PBL teaching process, there are still many practical problems, such as, teachers do not precisely know about the learning goals, teaching contents and how to implement the PBL and the projects in textbooks are not so good for PBL, besides, most teachers also have difficulties in assessing the PBL. According these problems, this passage is to define the mathematics project-based learning by investigating relevant literatures, and then discuss the following questions by case study:1. What is a good mathematics inquiry project?A math project is different from general math problems. Teachers themselves have to construct, collect and select the project for the lack of resources, so it is important to find out what is a good math project. Based on related theories and cases, the article will give six criteria to define a good math project.2. How to collect and generate a good math project?By the research in this part, the passage provides some channels and methods to collect and make out a math project, including how to seek relevant materials by network, and how to make connections among different subjects and so on.3. How to carry out the instructional plan of a math project? There are many differences between PBL and tradition methods on learning goals, teaching contents and teaching methods. From the teaching plan points, this thesis designs the math PBL teaching process and describes the basic progress and essentials that must be considered in the teaching design, which is divided into three parts: preliminary stage→analyzing and planning stage→implementing and developing stage. The critical parts consist of generating math projects, analyzing the project in detail and designing the classroom activities. What's more, via the cases, the passage explains how to use effective teaching strategy, make use of technology and online resources in the instruction and assess the PBL effectively.4. How to implement the PBL in actual teaching? In this part, the research selects"mathematics comprehensive topic","interdisciplinary topic"and"social application topic", totally four projects to make a detailed teaching design.According such aspects of the research above, the paper at last puts forward some suggestions for math PBL instructional design.
