With the higher education reform becoming more and more consummate and the education for all-around development becoming more and more perfect, the standard for intellect has been evaluating step by step and the all-round quality is becoming a main trend, so the competition has also been becoming more and more sever. Whether the physical education college students can adapt such sever competition is determined by a key factor, which means this college student group should foster an idea of cooperation and an ability of how to learn. As a result, the reform of learning mode has been put more and more importance in the new curriculum project which mainly focuses on changing the traditional learning mode in higher education. However, the traditional teaching mode, which is characterized with passive imitation and the simple acceptance, is still common in current physical education teaching practice. The physical education major students who are cultivated in such mode mostly are single in knowledge system. They are poor in related theory though they have relatively good skills in sports activities. To change such condition, reforming the physical education college students' learning methods is a more and more urgent task. Only in this way, can we develop the higher physical education better and better.With the research methods of literature investigation, questionnaire, mathematical statistic, teaching experiment and observation, this essay tries to bring the meta-cognition theory and cooperation theory into the track and field teaching practice, and build up a new teaching mode of "meta-cognition and cooperation". The other goal of this research is to build up the related teaching task, operation procedure, teaching tactics and teaching appreciation to the track and field teaching practice under the basic theory guide of pedagogy and the P.E pedagogical theory. The main goal of this research is to hunter after a kind of meta-cognition ability theory which the college physical students can use to control, appreciate and modify their learning process and methods. In this way, the P.E college students can improve their ability to analysis and solve the related problems. This research can offer some useful advice to the track and field curriculum teaching mode reform.The research shows the meta-cognition and cooperation teaching mode is helpful to enhance their meta-cognition and their innovation consciousness, even to improve their ponder ability, to exert their full potential which is positive to their further improvement. For the teachers, this teaching mode is useful to change the traditional role. The new teaching role of organizer, guider and participant will be useful to improve the P.E college students' ability to learn, to improve the efficiency of learning and to improve the track and field teaching quality. From this view, this essay is of some meaning to the track and field teaching methods and mode reform.
