Our mental health education in schools started at 1980's. As a result of late start, the regional disparity is large, theoretical study and practical exploration remained at the initial stage, scientific and professional level is not high and lack of unified administration. Mental health and education of other subjects constitute a mutual confining, infiltration, and dialectical united complete system. It provides a good psychological premise for students to form the moral character, acquire knowledge, cultivate various skills, develop intelligence, strengthen system and shape aesthetic feeling and so on.After years of education system reform, moral character education has been given more content, including moral education, ideological education, political education, psychological education and so on. Moral character education and mental health education closely connect to each other, and it's a valid approach to advance the level of students'mental health by carrying out mental health education in moral character teaching.Based on the interviews and surveys to middle school teachers and students, this thesis finds out the current situation of middle school students'mental health, and particularly analyses the cause of ignoring students'mental health education and investigates the tactic of raising the level of mental health education in moral character teaching. This thesis is divided into the following four parts:The first part is the basic part, which discusses the principles and the importance of mental health education, and relation between mental health education and moral character education.The second part is about interviews. Through the exchange with the middle school teachers, we know the current situation of middle school students'mental health, and make a specific analysis and classification aiming at students'mental health problems.The third part is the main part. In this part, we mainly analyze the cause of ignoring students'mental health education in moral character teaching, and discuss it concretely from five aspects—teaching objectives, teaching materials, teaching methods, teacher-student relationship and teacher quality.The fourth is the concluding part of the thesis. In this part, we put forward the tactic of advancing the level of students'mental health in moral character teaching, and it needs to follow five principles: main body principle, development principle, activity principle, individuation principle , coordination principle. And it also suggests to raise the level of students'mental health through some approaches, such as integration of teaching objectives, optimization of the teaching content, design of teaching methods, and so on.
