The basic knowledge of the organic chemistry is one of the key knowledge points in high school chemistry, and it forms its unique thinking methods and strategy system. It has a lot of content to be taught, whereas the teaching time is relatively insufficient and the structure is not very rigorous. For example, the knowledge of tstructure and properties of the organic, type of organic chemistry reaction and the isomeric compound are most part of the organic chemistry in high school. They are complex and various, hence they need the high ability of students to understand.Problem-solving is a high-level study course, as well as a creative practice activity. It is helpful for students to experience and understand the process and method of scientific study by exploring the students' thinking course. It is also helpful to cultivate the students' thinking ability, to improve the study quality and to develop the students' lifetime study ability. As the carrier of the thinking, the organic chemistry has the irreplaceable function in researching the student's thinking. It is difficult to draw a uniform conclusion if only explores the student's thinking ability but not analyses the problem level. The first research phase of the paper focus on making measurement tools based on the complexity of the test question of the organic functional group and the different requirements of the questions to the thinking ability of the students. The main job of the second phase is carrying out the demonstrative research to explore the different features of excellent students, average students and poor students in solving the organic function group problems, depending on the measurement tools. The strategy of improving the thinking ability to solve organic chemistry questions of three sorts of students is attempted to be put forward in the third phase.
