School-based advanced study and training, a new, concept and new practice beyond school-based training and school-based teaching research, has been a new paradigm for teachers' professional development in primary schools and middle schools across the country. Shanghai is one of the first practice bases of school-based teaching research in China and each school here has entered into a further stage in its acknowledgement to school-based teaching research. Principals, pilots of teachers' professional development, maintain a leading role in school-based advanced study and training without doubt. A good principal can lead an excellent team for teachers and show a higher development goal for school. Unlike previous professional development ways for teachers, the demand of teachers under the context of school-based advanced study and training is obviously different. Meanwhile, principals have been asked for changing for their leadership according to new expectation and aspirations. If principals want to make differences towards teachers' school-based advanced study and training, they should realize new changes and consider them within the change of leadership style.The thesis mainly discusses the subjects; those are the actual role and deserving role that principals play in leadership of school-based advanced study and training in teachers' eyes, and teachers' demands and expectations in culture, organization and system leadership for principals. On the basis of investigation to teachers from six junior middle schools in Changning District and Putuo District, it shows the major problems of principals' leading process and teachers' expectation weightings in the three dimension of leadership. After the analysis above, the author puts forward some feasible strategies and suggestions for principals according to the relevant problems.The thesis is composed of five parts:The first part is introduction, including the background, reasons, meaning, content and methods of the subject and literature review.The second part firstly introduces the relations of leadership of principals and school-based advanced study and training, then the changing demand to principals' leading.The third part is ideal hypothesis, which discusses the deserving leading role principals play in the aspects of culture, organization and system with regards to the meaning of school-based advanced study and training and its support conditions.The fourth part is empirical research, and it presents the results of fourteen questions in the questionnaire, analyzes the relevant problems and reasons from the perspective of teachers, and finds out teachers' expectations to principals' leadership.The fifth part is talking about strategies to principals for references in the aspects of culture, organization and system in connection with the existing problems in practice.
