The new curriculum has been put into effect in Zhejiang Province for four years .How are the teaching concept and behavior of geography teachers ?What measures can we take to promote the transformation of teachers behavior?Firstly, the thesis analyzes the requirements of geography curriculum standards for geography teachers in senior middle schools, and sums up the following five areas which need to change urgently:1. Learning style. It changes from lecture-based teaching to independent, inquiry and cooperative learning.2. Evaluation style. It changes from single evaluation model to multi- dimensional evaluation models.3. Teacher growing. It changes from relying on individual wisdom to the collective wisdom.4. Individual differences of students. It changes from concerning part of students' development to all students' development.5. The development of curriculum resources. It changes from teaching materials to using materials because of learning multi-media technology, extensive development and using of curriculum resources.Secondly, the thesis consults the articles of teachers' behavior at home and abroad, and finds out that the research fields are very wide. Based on literature research and the needs of the new era of curriculum reform, the thesis researches the teaching ideas, teaching methods and role-playing, which is an urgent need for senior middle school geography teachers to adapt the new curriculum reform.For the above-mentioned teachers' behaviors, a questionnaire is designed for the following five areas: the teachers' understanding of the new curriculum, classroom teaching behavior, classroom teaching assessment, teachers' self-development and the development of curriculum resources. Through the questionnaire of geography teachers from six public and four private senior middle schools, the following problems is discovered:1. Only part of teachers converts the concept of the new curriculum into the classroom teaching behavior.2. The proportion of independent, inquiry, cooperative learning in classroom teaching is still small, and the teachers are lack of considering research.3. Multi-dimensional evaluation of consciousness has been formed, but difficultly to put it into practice and far from being implemented. Currently, the single evaluation is the main way.4. The teachers' professional skill is qualified, but the real teaching behavior needs to strengthen.5. Teachers can make good use of internal-mural curriculum resources, but lack of extra-mural course resources.In order to solve the above problems, the author introduced three methods to help teachers to change their teaching behavior:1. Organize classroom observation research to promote teachers change their classroom teaching.2. Develop multimedia courseware to unite teachers to better make preparation of class teaching.3. Create a good school environment to promote the new curriculum teaching methods.In this thesis, a two-year experimental research is done in order to change the teachers' teaching method and role. The research mainly focuses on the classroom observation subject, including its organization form, process, evaluation, etc.
