| Nowadays, in China, with the rapid development of vocational education, higher vocational colleges (HCC) have been confronted with intensive competition and great pressure. To improve the quality of education in a higher vocational college ,we should first of all bring into full play the teacher's initiative premised on establishing a scientific and rational performance appraisal system, which provides for the teachers proper guidelines in their career planning so as to improve their performance in their teaching.The teacher of HCC have to not only teach the theory knowledge perfectly, but be skillful in practice introduction, namely"double-ability teacher". Most HCC in China, however, fail to apply the"double-ability teacher"norm to evaluating a teacher's performance. They adopt completely the teachers'performance appraisal indicator system taken by the suit of higher educational colleges, under which the teachers fail to design and conduct their activities in line with higher vocational education pattern, that is, they neglect their work in training the students'practical skills and all-around ability. In this case, higher vocational education is far from its aim to cultivate higher vocational talents badly needed in society.The essay first illustrates the realistic meaning and theoretic caluation of the problem about performance appraisal of HCC from two aspects——research background and comprehensive demonstration of document. Then it compares higher vocational education with higher education. It takes the case of Zhejiang Technical College Of Posts & Telecom to analyze the shortage in its present teachers'performance appraisal indicator system. By the new indicator system, 7 teachers from Mobile Communication department are chosen as the estimating objective and analyzed particularly, and put forward constructive suggestions for the future performance appraisal of HCC. |
