This study adopted the existing "Ethnical Culture Scale " and "Teacher's Professional Values Scale", after testing the index of psychometrics once again ,to investigate the teacher's professional values status and ethnical culture characteristics of the primary and secondary teachers in six merging ethnic schools with chinese schools.It intended to compare and explore the similarities and differences of Uygur and Chinese teachers on both teacher's professional values and ethnical culture and the effects of the latter for the former in different dimensions .Then the study made a sophisticated analysis for it by means of literature analysis and interview with experts and teachers from a cultural point of view .At last , this paper has a deep thought on how to guide the Uigur and Chinese teacher's professional values to develop well.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:First, the mean of Uygur and Chinese teacher's professinal values in merging ethnic schools with chinese schools is 4.537(that is"M = 4.537)". the order of the rating of dimensions given by teachers is as follows:Altruism&Dedication > Organizational Management> Material Reward> Prestigious Status > Professional Development> Interpersonal Relationship > Security&Stability. Teacher's overview on the professional values is positive and enthusiastic, which shows a relatively high value of the career expectation. .Secondly, There are significant differences between the Uygur and Chinese teachers in teacher's professional values which are Prestigious Status,Professional Development,Interpersonal Relationship and Security&Stability, It also shows different ethnical cultural characteristics on these dimensions which are Power Distance,Uncertainty Avoidance and Masculinity–Femininity.Further more, the study also analyzed the relationships between ethnical culture dimensions and teacher's professional values, and found that Individualism-Collectivism and Power Distance significantly influence teacher's professional values entirely.but Uncertainty Avoidance and Masculinity–Femininity just influence certain factors of teacher's professional values.Third, school type and education are important individual background variables which influence the professional values and culture of the the Uygur and Chinese teacher's,but the influence of seniority is not salience. |
