From the integration in the micro-level such as technology, process, product, resource, culture, organization, etc. inside an enterprise, to the integration in the mid-level such as merging and recombination of enterprises and industrial cluster, to the integration of politics, economy, military and so on among districts, countries in the macro-level, integration has been becoming a universal phenomenon and a special functional activity in today's enterprises and management area of the whole economic society.By carding the process of the management function's development, and researching the history development of idea, practice and theory of integration in management, we can get such a conclusion: the functions of management will be enriched and developed with the development of science and technology, as well as the development of management theory, the traditional functions cannot meet the needs of management practice in 21st century, integrating is becoming a new important function of management, the management practice calls for the guidance of integrating theory. Using the theory and knowledge of Management, Organization Behavior, Economics, Pedagogies and System Theory, adopting the method of literature analysis and speculative philosophy, the research tries to establish the preliminary system of integrating theory, and probes the questions about integrating function extended and applied in educational management.The research analyze the integrating function from the philosophical basis, connotation, characteristics, type, subject, object and process of integration, and put forward that the core of integration idea is View of Organic Whole, and from the methodology angle, integrating function is System Theory applied in the management practice; The essence of integration is the process and result of from dispersion to concentration, from stand idle to utilization, from conflict to cooperation, from miscellaneous to retrench and from disorder to order; The fundamental characteristics of integrating include subjective, purpose, system, dynamic, economy and innovation; Dividing and discussing integration from the angle of range, speed, direction, degree, motivation and the morphology of objects, we can deeply understand the connotation of integrating, as well as grasp the characteristics and requirements in different kinds of integrating; Efficient integration needs subject's promotion and management, manager's mental model and an integration leader's qualification have direct influence on the success of integration; The function of subject need acknowledge the objects, man as an object of integration, the key point is to integrate benefits; The integration process can be divided into six phases, the study of each phases favors for grasping the integrating opportunity, reducing the integrating cost and increasing the integrating validity.As a new important function of management, integrating is also suitable for this specific field of educational management. Around the four basic questions about education integration, this research explores the extension and application of integration in the educational management area. The study includes what is education integration, why we take integrating activities; integrate what and what principia we should follow, as well as what kind of integration model we should take.
