The scientific educational function of the Chinese textbook is determined by its instrumental and educational characteristics. Thus it is specifically valuable to do some research into the Chinese textbook, based on its aspects of selection, illustration or exercice,etc. One of the effective ways to give students scientific education is the promotion of their scientific attainment through Chinese teaching. Therefore, in order to exert scientific educational function of Chinese in maximum and improve the efficiency of scientific education, it's necessary to make a systematic presentation of the embodied scientific education factors and the presenting ways of the primary Chinese textbook.The study is based on one edition of primary Chinese textbook and teachers' book (twelve volumes in all) published by Beijing Normal University Publishing House in 2003 and the other edition published by New Asia Publishing House in 2003 (twenty-four volumes in all). Owing to the largrest market share of the two editions in Chinese Mainland and Hongkong, they're highly representative. This paper firstly makes a systematic presentation of the study about scienctific education factors previously carried out by people, using the method of literature. Based on such foundation, the paper sets up an analytic frame of textbook structure for comparing these factors. And then it has a frequency analysis on these two edtions from title -and-subtitle, illustration, exercise, teaching goals and unit narration by frequency Stat. method so as to discuss the presenting ways of the embodied scientific education factors in both editions. Furthermore, it has a deep analysis on "life world, seeking for variety, observation and exploiting innovation"to compare the similarities and differences between these two edtions. At last, it sums up the similarities and differences about the content of scientific education factors and persenting ways.According to the study methods embodied in the above, this thesis is made up of five parts. "Introduction" depicts the research origin, meaning and way. "Analytic frame" is the practical frame of this thesis. "Frequency compare" has a detailed comparison on different parts in both two editions. "Content compare" has a deep content analysis on the four entyies highly emphasized by these two editions. "Conclusions and suggestions" summarize some conclusions about this thesis and put forwards some suggestions.This thesis draws the following conclusions. Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong all lay stress on cultivating pupils' science spirit, especially the curious spirit; Chinese Mainland puts emphasis on "seeking for variety", but Hong Kong on "exploiting innovation"; Both all attach importance to "life world" and the "observation" method; Chinese Mainland on adult demonstration , whereas Hong Kong on children experience.By virtue of the above, we should reasonably allot the proportion of science knowledge, science spirit and science method and increase the content of fostering pupils' innovating spirit and optimize the presenting ways of scientific education factors.
