At the end of 1990s, As Chinese higher education strides from outstanding pattern to popularity, private colleges played an important role and to be an important part in the development process of China's higher education. Today, the competition between private colleges,public colleges and other private colleges is increasing. How to deal with the increasingly fierce market competition environment, it is particularly important to form its own characteristics and competitive advantage.Based on the theory of competitive strategy, this paper uses a combination of theory and empirical methods to analyze the development strategy of China's private colleges. First: using the SWOT methods to analyze the environmental impacts of the development of private colleges. The results indicate: At present, there are opportunities and challenges, difficulties and hopes for Chinese private colleges. It is crucial to formulate the development strategy to resolve the threat.Second: This article uses marketing strategy theory to analyze . research in the market based on market segmentation, target market selection and market positioning research, and then draw up strategic thinking ofdifferences in the development. The results showed that: private colleges should be differentiated development, consistent with public colleges and other private colleges to form the development of different strategies, such as positioning in the development, teaching methods, professional settings, employment-oriented and brand marketing, and etc. Finally, this paper makes use of the examples of animation professional technology institute of Jiangxi tellhow to analyze the main conclusions of this article.
