Since 1970s, non-profit organizations have developed unprecedentedly besides market and government. There also has an upsurge of study about non-profit organizations in the academic world. The private school which is called "private non-enterprise units" has risen during this time. According to the law in our country, private school belongs to non-profit organization, so "non-profit" should be its most specific tag. However, The "Private School Promotion Law of People's Republic of China" regulates as follows, "The investors can take reasonable return from school balances except the operating cost, the reserved development fund, and the necessary fee extracted from relative regulations in our country. The specific method earning reasonable return is determined by State Council." People begin to question the "non-profit" nature of private school. Beginning with the nature of private school and the source of legal status, this article discusses the profit-making problem of private school, with a view to fundamentally solve the development of private school, and explore a path which is suitable to the development of private school.This article is divided into six chapters.Chapter I is the preface which contains the topics of background, the references the meanings of selecting topics, the significance of research ideas and the main theoretical support and methods.In chapter II, we define the "basic concepts of private school and non-profit organization", and simply introduce the basic profit-making status of private school, which is the groundwork of the following discussion.Chapter III involves the profit-making plight and drawbacks of China's private school, in order to demonstrate the necessity of clear positioning to private school.Chapter IV is "Taiwan and foreign private school review of profit-making problem". It contains the regulations of profit-making problem in Taiwan, Japan, America and Netherland, from which we detain some enlightenment beneficial to the development of private school in our country. In chapter V, I introduce the path selection of our country's private school in future. The last part is the conclusion, which is the summary of the full text.
