Nowdays teacher professional development has already became the hot issue in the education sector of our china, and it has aroused the widespread attention. However in the underdevelopment western region, the concerns of the teacher professional development are few. When a private school facing the survival challenge, the level of teacher professional development can decide the fate of it. We can also say that the level of teacher professional development will largely determine the survival of a private school. Based on this, this thesis study focused on difficulties of the teacher professional development of private schools, and trying to find the countermeasure to promote the professional development in private school.This study selected the teachers and the schoolmaster of L private school in Jinchang City as cooperative partner. Nine of my coorperators are chinese, mathematics and English teachers. I began inter the study site in September 2008, colleting the materials mainly through three lectures, interviews with principals and teachers, physical analysis, and directly involved in school activities. Trying to sought the constraints of private school teachers in professional development, to explore the driving force of private schools teachers in the professional development, looking for some effective ways to benefit the private school teachers in professional development, giving practical suggestions to improve the professional development of private school teachers. In this process, my observation and analysis focused on the following aspects: perspective of the frequent movement of teachers in private school; the confusion during the teaching process; the management system of private schools, as well as influence of the professional development of teachers arising from the school headmaster and the private school itself.This study indicates that there are two aspects to promote the professional development of private school: First, the external impact, that is, needing some practical support from educational executive agencies, while also requiring the organized training learning of private school teachers; what's more important, is the intrinsic factors to the role of teachers, such as self-improvement of teachers, teachers' aspirations of its own role, needs and practices and to pursue the promotion of self-consciousness, all of these are the driving force of the professional growth of the teacher. Whether External factors can impact the professional growth, as well as the degree of the impact depend on the teacher's awareness of self-development. To study the countermeasures to promote the professional development of Private school teachers, it is necessary to control the"soft conditions", and tap the internal driving force of professional development, to promote the effective professional development, to have a lasting positive effect.And I realized that there were still many difficulties of the private school teachers to walk out the current dilemma in western rural areas, I also know that the research I have done does not help teachers to improve the level of professional development, but I hope it will have a little bit of help for them to understand their situation.
