Study On Development Of Taiwan Private Higher Education

Because of some reasons, the higher education development from Taiwan to mainland of China is quite different. Taiwan Private higher education was started from 1950s, and lasts for 4 periods including rising and expanding period, reorganizing and adjusting period, stride development period and re-adjusting period. Nowadays, Taiwan private higher education has become one half of the whole higher education and a positive factor to the society and economy within the island. Some measures such as excellent initiative project awards, diversified college entrance system and university evaluation system were taken by Taiwan government to encourage the development of private higher education.Inner systems of Taiwan private higher education is quite completed that guarantee higher education development. The system of organization, laws, funds management, quality guarantee, major development, student management and human resources management have become complete. Besides, private higher education is closely related to the government, and it contributes a lot to society development and culture flourishing.Some private universities had a good quality and developed rapidly. For example, Yuan Ze University was founded in 1989 which has become the top private universities.Compared with what happens in Taiwan, private higher education at mainland was started from 1980s. With more than 20 years development, it has become a nearly complete and large–scaled system. But it still have many problems. In order to solve these problems occurred in the process of private higher education at mainland of China, the history and conditions inner and outside systems was analyzed first, and then characteristics of Taiwan private higher education and a case study on Yuan Ze University was being put out, at last the experience of Taiwan private higher education were proposed.
