Conversation teaching is a brand-new teaching form arising in the conversation times, which is widely used in teaching practice. However, as the new course reform moves on, conversation teaching has gradually revealed several problems, which obviously blocks the progress of the reform. By taking junior middle school student as the object of study and taking student-based conversation teaching as the content of study, this article looks into the practical difficulties of conversation teaching based on documentation research, analytical review and investigation method. Theoretically, it is required to strengthen the teachers' all-round and deep recognition into conversation teaching theory. Practically, by finding out and analyze the problems, it is suggested to take conversation teaching theory into practice so as to strengthen the guidance of the teaching process and avoid the blindness of the teaching practice.This essay sets the pre-class section, in-class section and after-class discussion section as the specific scope of study, adopting the analysis as a starting point to find out drawbacks of the current Chinese teaching styles in junior schools and exploring the causes. The survey found that the current situation of dialogue teaching method is not optimistic: there are pseudo-dialogues in the student-oriented dialogue, the teacher-student dialogue ,the student-student dialogue and even student self-dialogue . that partial teachers do not have a strong sense of the concept of dialogue teaching method is one reason contributing to this reality. Besides, the exam-oriented education system leads to the negligence of the students' dominant position in this dialogue teaching method. Therefore, it is essential to establish a student-based dialogue teaching system.Based on this point, this article proposes three principles of conversation teaching for junior middle school Chinese subject: (1) respect individuals as well as develop the whole class; (2) establish the conversation teaching based on the students as well as the text books; (3) role allocation as well as equal communication. Under such principles, this article brings forward major conversation teaching tactics for junior middle school Chinese subject: trust sufficiently and learn proactively; communicate democratically between teachers and students; self-exam actively and make progress internally. These tactics are concrete and feasible, which have been demonstrated in practice and could be applied to the Chinese teaching. However, several problems also exist in student-based conversation teaching and bring about further thinkings, e.g., how to resolve the contradiction between time and effect, setting up in advance and coming into being, knowledge and competency, etc. which are the current puzzles as well as the direction for further studies.
