In recent years, Learning Chinese is getting more and more popularpresentat ayounger age trend. Many countries have started offering Chinese courses in primaryand middle school. Learning Chinese characters plays an important part in children’sChinese learning. Their learning content has extended to every aspect in listening,speaking, reading and writing. However, as an important part of Chinese learning,Chinese characters itself has been a vexing issue for foreigners and teachers. Although more and more attention has been paid to the teaching of Chinese charactersand some achievements about teaching research have gained, this does not solve theexisting problem that most foreign children are not retaining their learning of Chinesecharacters. Therefore, by combining my teaching experience in one Spanish primaryschool with practical methods, I will put forward some new ways of improvingchildren’s reading ability. I also will offer experience and advice for people’s learningand teachingof Chinese characters.This article is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction whichpresents origin, purpose and significance of the research. It mainly explains the reasonand purpose of the article, as well as the problems that need solving.The second partis a summary which includes action research and Chinese characters teaching. Actionresearch introduces its definition, characteristics, procedure and methods; Chinesecharacters teaching mainly analyzes the teaching situation and achievements offoreign culture circles. The third part explain how some efforts have been done toimprove foreign people’s reading and speaking abilities, especially in children. I haveanalyzed the problems and reasons in Chinese characters teaching, and have designedand implemented three action plans for exploring a suitable way of overseaschildren’s Chinese learning.The fourth part is the summary of the article on itsachievements and deficiencies in order to put forward some suggestions for teachingpeople who are in the foreign culture circle. |
