In the modern history of Chinese language & culture education in China, the name of Zhu Ziqing is closely related to Ye Shengtao and Xia Gaizun. Mr. Zhu Ziqing was engaged in the practice and research of Chinese language & culture education for 27 years, during which he expressed his correct and penetrating views in Chinese language & culture education from different perspectives, thus formed his unique philosophy of Chinese language & culture education with clear sign of times and distinctive national features.Zhu Ziqing's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education, which was based on the reality at his time, geared with the trend of social development. Such a creative philosophy is still of great significance in guiding the reform of Chinese language & culture teaching in the modern world.This paper focuses on Zhu Ziqing's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education, systemizing and analyzing the fragmental viewpoints expressed by Zhu Ziqing in his masterpieces and other articles, with the methods of literature analysis and comparative analysis. Vertical and transversal comparisons are adopted to analyze two main aspects—educational philosophy, and Chinese language & culture teaching, thereby reveal the enlightenment for modern education brought by Zhu's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education.The paper contains three parts: introduction, main body and postscript. The main body consists of four chapters.The introduction part provides the rationale of the paper, and the current state of the research in Zhu Ziqing's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education.Chapter 1 summarizes the feature of Zhu Ziqing's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education, focusing on three aspects, namely, the educational philosophy of "educating, caring and surviving", the student-centered concept, and the teaching principle of "attaching equal importance to trainings both in Chinese language and culture ".Chapter 2 is mainly about Zhu Ziqing's educational philosophy. The current main-stream educational philosophies are considered while "personality education" . "love education" and "survival education" are described and commented on. Chapter 3 puts forth the enlightenment for modern education brought by Zhu Ziqing's philosophy of Chinese language & culture education. With the analysis and studies in Zhu Ziqing's teaching experiences in terms of reading, writing and speaking, this part points out how Zhu Ziqing's philosophy tallies with modern educational philosophy, and enlighten the Chinese language & culture teaching.Chapter 4 indicates the enlightenment for us brought by Zhu Ziqing's philosophy and experience in Chinese language & culture education, with the emphasis on two aspects, namely, "The ultimate goal of Chinese language & culture education is to achieve harmonious development of students", "Charm is the most important power of Chinese language & culture teachers".
