The girl's secondary education didn't have its position in the law, because the spread of western learning attacked the traditional idea about women education, the church's women education demonstrated on it, the insight men advocated the female education, and so on, the middle school of girl had obtained certain existing space. From that time on, the secondary education of girl in China had just begun officially. The goal of this paper is to clear off the development process of the female secondary education in the initial period of Republic of China. Based on this, it attracts importance to introducing the curriculum and teaching of it, at the same time, compared with same time's man secondary education, and the church's female secondary education, there are some characteristics:Namely, comparing with the female secondary education of the church, it has different characteristics in the quality of teaching, the funds, as well as in the outlets, which decided by different educational objectives, educational goals as well as the curriculum. During the developing processes of this two kinds of schools, the example demonstration of the church's education on female education in China was manifested, and the trend that the Western education was in pursue of adapting to social need was also reflected. Comparing with the secondary education of man, the unfair educational beginning, process as well as results was reflected in the view of curriculum, teaching and so on. This paper also analyzes the developmental achievements and insufficiency of female secondary education in the initial period of Republic of China, so as to have the enlightenment on the female secondary education and its curriculum in new time.This thesis, to begin with, traces the developmental historical foundation of female secondary education in the early period of Republic of China. The introduction of western learning to the east had impact on the traditional girl's education. The church's women education had the example demonstration on it. The intellectuals in the early time advocated and appealed women education. The female education at the end of the Qing Dynasty and in the early period of Republic of China began to be implemented in the educational system. And the thought of the educational equality between men and women during the May 4th Movement of 1919 became popular and so on. All of these have laid certain foundation for the female secondary education's development in the initial period of Republic of China.Next, this thesis emphasizes on the concrete developmental condition of female secondary education in the initial period of Republic of China. The first thing of this part is to introduce the basic situation about the female secondary education development. This section introduces the development conditions on the female secondary education separately both before and after the May 4th Movement of 1919.The second thing is to introduce its curriculum and teaching. The third thing is to elaborate the developmental characteristics of the girl's education in middle school. Compared with female secondary education between before and after1919, between the Chinese female secondary education and church's, between men's and girls', it summarizes the developmental characteristics of female secondary education in the initial period of Republic of China.Once more, this paper summarizes the main developmental achievements and deficiency of female secondary education in the initial period of Republic of China. It has enhanced the standards of female cultural knowledge, which makes more women increasingly awakened, to a certain extent brings out women's liberation, and urges the development of feminist movement in modern times. At the same time, with the female secondary education developed, the idea about the education personality's equality has been approved gradually, thus the sexes equality in education has also gradually been realized. However, generally speaking, it is very slow for the female secondary education development in the initial period of the Republic of China, and female secondary education has still faced up with the unequal reality in education. The reasons are varied, such as social environment, family financial circumstances, educational expenditures, and scarce teachers and so on.Finally, this thesis elaborates the enlightenment of the development female secondary education on the women's liberation movement, and female secondary education in new time.
