In order to fully implement the Party's education policy and to promote the healthy development of students so that the college students can become the builders and successors of the socialist cause, the Ministry of Education issued the "Physical Education Curriculum Guidelines for Institutions of High Learning". This is based on "Decisions on Deepening Education Reform and Promoting Quality Education from CPC Central Committee and State Council ", and on the "Regulations on Physical Education" stipulated by State Council. With the full implementation of the quality education and the deepening of college physical education reform, many experts have done a great many researches and studies on the curriculum reform and the teaching mode of physical education, which not only significantly activated the academic atmosphere but also greatly impacted the reform of physical education.This thesis studied the effects and the implementation of the teaching mode of exercise prescription in Beijing through literature review, questionnaires, experiments, investigation and interview, mathematical statistics as well as logic analysis. At the same time, the teaching mode of exercise prescription is employed in educating the students in Beijing University of Chemical technology. The experiment aims at studying the feasibility and effectiveness of the teaching mode in this university so that proper exercise prescription is used according to the physical condition of the students. This may be of help to determine the intensity, time, frequency and mode of exercise, to avoid the damaging of health due to unreasonable exercise, and to promote the popularization of health and scientific exercise. Another initiative is to promote the enthusiasm and the joyfulness of exercise and to help the students develop good exercise habits to finally achieve the goal of life-long physical education.The experimental results showed that exercise prescription teaching model is strongly feasible, scientific and practical for improving the college students in the consciousness and participation of exercise. This teaching mode is valuable to be used and popularized in improving the current situation of physical education. However, the implementation of this mode in Beijing is not satisfied. And this teaching mode itself has much room to perfect and develop, such as the knowledge updating of the teachers, the development of the teaching contents and methods as well as the operation methods in teaching.
