An Empirical Study On Interdisciplinary Research In Track And Field Theory

On the basis of clarifying the related concepts, connotation and features of the disciplinary, interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary research and inter-disciplinary research of track and field, this thesis elaborated the four characteristics—cooperation, integrity, openness, tolerance—in interdisciplinary research.Through analyzing the characteristics of track and field, perspectives of field cross-disciplinary research, advantages of cross-disciplinary research, environment for carrying out interdisciplinary research as well as problems existing in cross-disciplinary research in track and field, this thesis concludes that it can help discipline development, address the backward research method and catch up with the developed discipline to conduct cross-disciplinary research in track and field.At the same time, after discussing the possibility of conducting interdisciplinary research in track and field, by applying various research methods such as literature and data, bibliometrics method, empirical analysis, comparative analysis, expert interviews, it also analyzes and illustrates the four aspects—number of dissertation-related disciplines, word frequency analysis, research type and characteristics of the research objects—of the 421 Master dissertations on track and field over the past decade. It comes to a conclude that in China, there are a number of Master's dissertations on track and field which apply interdisciplinary research, yet the ratio is too small, and most of them belong to the same domain within the scope of cross discipline. In addition, there exists the lack of applying basic theoretical discipline (philosophy) Knowledge. All these phenomena indicate that, in China, the knowledge structure of postgraduates on track and field is deficient and imperfect. So it is no slave to fashion, but rather a necessisity for academic and social development to conduct cross-disciplinary research in the subject of track and field, which no one that works on scientific research can avoid. Therefore, this thesis proposes inter-disciplinary research and perspectives and methods in track and field which go beyond inherent interdisciplinary barriers and traditional methods, so as to help the reseaching in track and field to be out of the bottleneck stage and catch up with the developed disciplines to enable access to faster and better development of this discipline. To promote the quality Master's degree thesis on track and field, it is a must to change students'thinking, improve their knowledge structure. Thus, it is a must to reform the current academic system, so that students can conduct inter-department and inter-disciplinary study. It is necessary to provide a "Liberal" education. for them and train them to think interdisciplinarily. This is the only way to increase the academic level of masters on track and field, so that the subject of track and field can catch up with other subjects at a faster pace.Finally, this thesis recommends that the quality of mater's degree thesis on track and field can be improved only by changing the mindset of students, reform the inherent discipline system and cultivates talents on interdisciplinary research in track and field.
