With the rapid development of Chinese science, technology and economy, the great pace of modernization, the improved living qulity and medical level in twenty-first century and the increased life span of humanbeings, our government and society pays more and more attention to how to improve the old's health and how to maintain health and longevity. Henan province is a population based agricultural province in the middle of China. Under the situation of a low economic level and a imperfect social security system, And the retired faculty in university as a special group of old people, our sports professionals must pay more attention for them about the exercise situation.Based on the retired workers in eight representative universities of Henan province as its research object, using literature and questionnaire survey, viewed from the exercise motivation, time, frequency, place, means, subject, sports consumption level and the commonly-seen sports injury, this thesis does a overall and objective survey on the current physical exercisess situation and its influencing factors of retired university staff of Henan province. Based on the survey results this thesis puts forward some reasonable suggestions for the referrence of these retired university staff's scientific physical exercisess. They are as follows:1 The research object—retired university staff of Henan province is a group of highly-educated people, and 75% of them has an important motivation of doing physical exercisess to enhance their health and keep away from disease.2 This study's final result is that retired university staff of Henan province doing exercise weekly over six times have a percentage of 52.1% and those who do exercise over 60 minutes reach 55.5%, which proves the old pay much time to physical exercisess and have a strong consciousness of physical exercisess.3 Male and female teachers have difference in the choice of physical exercises, the former favorite of subjets with competition and stimulation such as gate ball, tennis and chess and the latter favorite of subjets with slowness and aesthetic feeling such as body-building exercise and sports dancing.4 The choice of place—they tend to choose outdoor and indoor sports place and there is little difference between the choice of the male and the female. 5 Having a steady salary and good sports atmosphere, most of them are active to take part in physical exercises with a ratio of 93% which is much bigger than that of the nationally ordinary old. And the rest 7% not taking part in physical exercises is mainly due to personal physical reasons, lack of interest in sports and lack of social guidance.6 Their outdated consumption concept—they tend to be rational and economical in the pocess of consumption.7 According to the survey sports injury among them are commonly-seen, and the waist, shoulder, ankle and knee injury rates ranks the first class. This thesis suggests universities provide for retired workers with professional medical instructors, take advantage of both the PE department and the medical department in comprehensive university, carry out compulsory supervision and health care regularly, use the campus network and news media to let every retired workers know some physical exercises skills and methods and under the guidance of the professional medical instructors make the old's physical exercises subjects more diversified and their elderly lifetime more enjoyable.
