The teacher professional development is the core of teacher education, and the rural teachers professional development is the important content in the reform of teacher education. In recent years, the researchs on rural teachers professional development present characteristic of diversification, studys in different area especially rural area,different subject, different strage of development are increasing, and investigating the real requirement of rural teachers is an essential prerequisite for all studys.What's the professional development needs of chemistry teacher in rural senior high school? Which support Should be provide for these special problems? In what form will be gived to the rural chemistry teachers? It is the main problem that the research seeks to resolve. This is a case study of all chemistry teachers in the rural senior high school, which takes the S District of Jinlin Province for an example. This article will analyse the basic condition of the needs of chemistry teachers professional development in rural senior high school from the professionalism, specialty knowledge and professional skills, through the field survey to investigate the prime features of the chemistry teachers who are in the novice level, competent level, proficient level. The main aim of this paper is to provide the reasonable suggestion for the chemistry teachers professional development in rural senior high school.The study includes five parts:the main function of first part is raising question,this part show the the research background, the situation of research, research questions, and the object of research, research process, research method.The second part is the theoretical basis, which includes the theory about teacher professional development stage and the teacher professional structure of quality. The third part is the main body of this research which analyses the status of the professional development needs, influencing factors, characteristics.The last two parts present conclusions of the study, problems and countermeasures, and give suggestion about the Strategy of meeting the needs of chemistry teachers professional development in rural area, chemistry teacher training in rural area, rural chemistry teaching resources etc.
