Through questionnaire, literature research amd statistics methods, this study investigated the current situation (including age, education background, English proficiency, computer skills, working time, altheletes experiences, professional title, and the arrangement of the training) and the salary of 95 professional track and fieldtrainers. Based on this information and the application of the element count law in salary management, it appraised and scored trainers'performance and compared their salary with their counterparts. Thus the analysis of the salary management of the track and field coaches was reported. The current study revealed that among all the track and fieldcoachesin china, those under 35 years old covered 25.3%, those between 36-50 comprised 56.8%, while those over 50 made up 17.9%, reflecting a large portion in the middle and a small portion at both ends. Therefore, on the whole, the age structure of coaches was comparatively reasonable. With regard to the structure of the educational level, undergraduates accounted for 65.3%, which was relatively rational. However, postgraduates covered 5.3%, and associate undergraduates held 34.7%. So there was a sharp contrast between the postgraduates and associate undergraduates. Their oral English and computer skills were relatively low. Their learning approaches after working largely included in-service training (67.3%), coaches training class(21.1%) as well as self-directed study (11.6%).Through the element count law, the work of the coaches was appraised. And their element appraisal score was 906, which surpassed of a human resources manager of a certain company. Compared with the current salary about 10000 yuan of the human resources manager, the coaches could only get their salary between 3000yuan and 4000yuan. In contrast with the salary of the same class, the coaches'salary was relatively low. In a survey about the income satisfaction of the track and field coaches in China, nearly 80% of the track and field coaches expressed their dissatisfaction towards their salary. In another survey featured by a comparison of the salary of the track and field coaches with that of the other coaches in sports,32.6% of the track and field coaches argued that their salary was remarkably low among the sports trainers, while 6.3%of them maintained that there was no obvious difference with other coaches in terms of the salary. It was not acknowledged by them that their salary was higher than that of the other coaches.
