After Opium War, with the collision and exchanges of Chinese and Western cultural, modern Western sports were introduced to Guangzhou mainly through western residents, churches, new schools, and achieved initial development.The twenties and thirties of the twentieth century, Guangdong Council entered the relatively stable period. The Guangdong Provincial and Guangzhou Municipal Government took the following measures to develop social sports, setting up sports management agencies, constructing stadiums, training PE teachers, holding sports experimental areas of the people, besides civil enthusiastic social sports person promoted social sports, Guangzhou social sports had made unprecedented development, at the forefront of the country. Guangzhou people's sports enthusiasm soared, sports events were often held, sports organizations emerged in large number, the number of participating in sports activities increased, sports became a fashionable leisure activity.Guangzhou social sports had a profound effect on people's lives in the Republic of China:to some extent it changed people's traditional entertainment forms, and strengthened people's concept of charity and the anti-Japanese national salvation, and enhanced the people's collective cohesion. Although Guangzhou social sports had made unprecedented development in the Republic of China, there were still many problems. Social sports were not popular, limited to a few people and a few areas, title prevailed. Social sports lack of funds. Government had not set scheduled sports funding. Social sports was lack of PE teachers and stadiums. Members of Sports organizations were honorary staff, it reduced efficiency of the sports organization.
