| There is moral education in any subject and the course of teaching it. As one of the humanities and a subject in China, English subject based on its humanity, accuracy and practicality has lots of moral elements. It can help students to get the awareness for labors, environment and social morality. It is also useful for the students to have their correct value and to have the love to their motherland.Nowadays, school education is in a weak situation because people's moral level declines, and they also have weak environmental awareness and poor etiquette, besides, the interpersonal relationship and the relationship between human, the society and the nature are disordered. Strengthening moral education in schools, therefore, is imminent, and we should pay more attention to interdisciplinary moral education, finding out all the educational factors in the moral resources to give students a comprehensive education and the correct guidance.In this paper, theoretical study is done first. It discusses the meaning of moral education, moral education for junior high school students, and the theoretical basis of interdisciplinary moral education. The paper also discusses the necessity and feasibility of moral education in Junior High School English Teaching, and analyzes the moral elements of junior high school English subject teaching. The moral content of Go for it (which has been used by lots of middle in China at present) is tapped. The sample survey research for the English subjest focuses on the moral education status of English teaching in junior high schools in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The results of the data analysis highlight the lack of the students'awareness of cooperation, right motivation for studying English, proper environmental awareness, labor awareness, the awareness of thinking for their parents and the good social morality habits. Teachers, however, don't have enough awareness of moral educating. Their capability of moral educating is not strong, either. Finally, combined with the characteristics of subjects of English, the responses (strategies and approaches) to these prominent issues are given. They are to effectively improve evaluating methods and teaching methods, weaken education utilitarian, fully tap the moral resources in English subject to help enhance students'moral awareness. English teachers are also supposed to put their lives an example for the promotion of students to develop good moral habits. The last part is the way to improve English teachers'moral quality and ability of teaching English with moral elements is to regard English as a tool combining humanities. |
