In this paper, combined with the observation of students, questionnaires and interviews with parents, the author investigated the learning habits of junior high school students of Shenzhen City Gongming Middle School. The investigation focus on their extra-curricular learning bad habits and its four aspects of negative effect:low quality homework thus failing to achieve the purpose of homework; low efficiency in class resulting in poor acquisition of knowledge and bad academic performance; poor reading volume that makes them unable to improve their cultural quality; poor independence which doesn't contribute to their capacity development. Based on the analysis of deep causes of their bad habits, the paper highlighted the severe challenges that China faces in the process of promoting quality education in the situation of rapid economic development. Concerned about the healthy growth of teenagers and improvement of the quality of the Chinese nation, this paper presents six measures to correct their bad extra-curricular learning habits, promote comprehensive development of teenagers to better grow and achieve our goal of building a moderately prosperous society. The specific measures are:to enable students to develop the habit of treating homework seriously; to design assignments intensively; to enhance instruction of learning strategies; to create a good atmosphere for reading; to help students to stay away from TV and Internet addiction; to strive to get the cooperation of the parents.
