Rising in the United States and widely spread in the United States ,the teacher portfolio evaluation has exceeded the traditional evaluation model of classroom lectures measuring and testing, fully achieving the new developmental teacher evaluation concept, making the teacher evaluation more real, more comprehensive, and helping to emerge and improve teachers' education teaching ability, promoting teachers' professional development. This paper mainly discusses and analyzes the theoretical basis of American teacher portfolio evaluation , its function and its type,dugs its concrete implementation process, its methods and its advantages and disadvantages, and explains the significance of utilizing the American teacher evaluation to the teachers'evaluation reform in our country.This paper consists of forward and four main parts. The forward includs problem putting forward, research methods and train of thoughts, the research significance and the definition of some concepts.The first part explores the background of teacher portfolio evaluation's coming into being in America and its theoretical basis.The second section discusses the connotation,functions ,types and composition of American teacher portfolio evaluation .The third part analyzes and investigates the implement of the American teacher portfolio evaluation , including the foundation of the American teacher portfolio ,its assessment procedures and evaluation methods.The fourth part analyzes and discusses the characteristics ,advantages and disadvantages of the American teacher portfolio evaluation, and in combination with the current assessment of teachers and the existing problems in practice in our country, draws some beneficial enlightenment to the teacher evaluation reform in our country.
