In recent years, with the rapid development of postgraduate education, it gradually becomes an important topic of higher education and management in China. Some related research reviews show that, as the enrollment scale of postagraduates has been expanding in China, the enrollment in postgraduate has risen steeply from 51 thousand in 1997 to 390 thousand in 2008. And there is a definite impact on the training and management of the postgraduate. Dissertations are the important parts of the postgraduate training, and they are the primary ways to develop the students' innovation capability. During a long time, since it is a littile difficult to obtain plenty of dissertations, there are rare related studies in China, and the only ones pay much attention to the superficial description, lacking of deeply statistical studies.This study takes the master's thesises of Educational Administration as the research objects, which come from East China Normal University and Beijing Normal University. There are three research methods in this research, such as content analysis method, comparative study method and literature research method. And the processing of the statistics and analysis are estabilished in three dimensions, research themes, research methods and research purposes. Also the development and the changes of the research objects are compared by the year and university on these three dimensions. Above all, we can have a deep understanding of the status and the problems of the master's dissertation, and give some constructive proposals to it.By using the SPSS, the paper counted the frequency, mean, percentages and other basical statistics of the research objects. And at the same time the researcher analyzed the relations among the number of thesis, research themes, research methods and research purposes by using crosstab analysis method. Through the above strive, we can get the current situation and developing tendency of the research objects in the last ten years. Just based on this, we can get some characteristics about these dissertations:firstly, both classic research issues and hot topics in nowadays are emphasized on the research topics; secondly, there is a diversify development trend on the using of research methods; thirdly, basis research and applied research go hand in hand on research purposes. At last there are four problems were found out through the research process. Firstly, the postgraduate admission scale is more than enough. Secondly, there are some drawbacks in the administration system of the master's dissertation. Thirdly, the level of the criterion of the thesises is low. At last, the utilization efficiency of these dissertations is not high. And there are four suggestions: firstly, control the size of the enrollment strictly; secondly, set an information pool of these dissertations; thirdly, pay more attention to the standardization of the research papers; and the last one, improve the utilization efficiency of these dissertations. And these suggestions can be the information for students, master's tutors and the relevant administrative departments. At last, there are still many disadvantages on this research, such as the small scope, the inadequate of the content and the low level of the study. I hope the latter researchers can make deeper and more detailed studies through the present study.
