Comparative Study Of Library And Information Science Master And Doctoral Dissertation Across The Taiwan Strait

Library and information science of China Taiwan and mainland China can be described as having the same origin.Library and Information Science can be traced back to the establishment of Wuchang Wenhua Library College in the 1920 s.Theses and dissertations is characterized by novel content,strong professionalism,and high academic value,etc.It also can intuitively reflect the research status of library and information science.Master and doctoral dissertation can become an important medium for understanding the development of disciplines research,and it has also become an important indicator for measuring the level of science development and technological output.Based on this,the author used bibliometrics method,content analysis method and comparative analysis method to analyze the theses and dissertations on the field of library and information science in both sides of the Taiwan Strait.It explores the advantages and features of theses and dissertation writing in the fields of library and information science in China Taiwan and the mainland.This paper is divided into five chapters,which are Introduction,Research Design,Comparative Study of Sample Papers on Both Sides of the Strait,Content Comparison of the of Sample Papers on Both Sides of the Strait,Conclusion and Inspiration.This article first introduces the research background,research goal and significance,research focus and difficulties,and expounds the current situation of the research on master and doctoral dissertation in the field of library and information science from the research topics,research methods and citation analysis,etc.And the article takes the library and information science's theses and dissertations of Jilin University and Taiwan Normal University as the main research object.Through the paper's acquisition status,quantity,structure,writing specification and process,this paper compares and analyzes the general situation of theses and dissertations in the fields of library and information science across the Taiwan Strait.From the five dimensions of topics types,research topics,keywords,research methods,and references,the author analyzes the similarities and differences between theses and dissertations in the field of library and information science across the Taiwan Strait.The study found that the theses and dissertations in Library and Information Science in the mainland and Taiwan have their own characteristics.Both the mainland and China Taiwan regions have a high degree of structural integrity,and the paper writing process has more detailed specifications.The research focus in the field of library and information science is different in the mainland and China Taiwan.But the diversity of master's dissertations in the fields of library and informatics in Taiwan Normal University and Jilin University is quite similar.Postgraduate students in mainland like to write discourse thesis,while most postgraduates in China Taiwan have written positive essays.The way of quoting research methods is highly standardized in China Taiwan.The research methods of theses and dissertations in the field of mainland are mainly comparative analysis methods and literature survey methods.The highest ranking research methods in Taiwan are interviews and questionnaires.The number of key words indexed at Jilin University is relatively standardized.PhD and master students at Taiwan Normal University are more likely to cite foreign languages when writing their dissertations.At present,the description format used in Taiwan is APA format,and the format for the mainland paper is GB/T 7714.
