With the increasingly extensive and deep application of information technology in education,many universities in China successively set up education technology majors. As excellent talents ineducation technology major,the dissertation of a postgraduate,to some extent,reflects the researchorientations,hot spots and existing problems in the research of this subject at a certain time. Throughsorting,analyzing and summarizing recent dissertations of postgraduates,one can discover problems andsummarize experience and lessons so as to promote further development of the subject and major.This paper collects master dissertations on education technology in the last four years fromHenan University,Northwest Normal University,East China Normal University and South China NormalUniversity. Using content analysis method and taking practical fields,research categories and researchmethods as types,it analyzes the distribution of practical fields,frequently-used research methods and thevariation trend in research categories of the master dissertations in the last four years from theabove-mentioned four universities. Through researches,one can find that the hot spots of studying masterdissertations of China’s education technology major still focus on network and distance education,andmedium and information technology fields which relate to school education.While study on enterprise andorganizational field is deficient and needs to be strengthened. Research fields mainly focus on design&development and utilization fields,while study on the basic theories of education technology remainsrelatively weak. The application of research methods mainly focus on qualitative research,while the ratio ofcomprehensively using qualitative methods to quantitative methods is not high though the quantitativeresearch has a rising tendency in recent years.Through the analysis result of types in practical fields,this paper,together with relativelyprominent problems at present about employment of graduates majoring in education technology,holds thatwe should integrate education technology resources,adjust curriculum setting,increase professionalpublicity,strengthen communication with social employing units,broaden employment channels for studentsand enhance employment guidance for them. Through analyzing the types of research category,it holds thatthe construction of education technology subject should add research orientations on performance andhuman resource. Through analyzing the types of research method,it proposes that the cooperation and communication with relevant colleges should be strengthened so as to accelerate the application ofcomprehensive research methods by students majoring in education technology.
