Returning students are special groups in university. They are required to study on probation because their academic achievements are under the lowest standard of universities. Before becoming returning students, they are faced with many problems of learning adaptability, such as lack of learning motivation, maladjustment of learning environments and poor learning behavior. During the period of probation they are even confronted with more academic difficulties and interpersonal barriers. It must be of great significance for us to investigate the present situation of returning students'learning adaptability, find the factors which influence their learning adaptability and put forward advice to help returning students adapt to learning better. This study purchases E university as a case and investigates a few returning students about their learning motivation, learning environment adaptability, learning behavior and learning pressure. After the analysis of returning students'learning adaptability, the author proposes some advice and makes several basic solutions.First, most returning students lack learning motivation. Commonly, they are short of learning objectives and self-discipline. What's more, they have no interest or motivation in learning because they can't identify themselves with the university and specialty. Therefore, returning students can't adapt to the great changes from high school to university.Second, returning students can't adapt to university's learning environments well. From school to university, the learning environment has changed greatly. This not only includes the change of campus environment, student exchanges, teacher-student interaction and learning atmosphere, but also includes the change of teaching style and curriculum. It's very difficult for returning students to adapt to these changes.Third, returning students are found to have poor learning behavior. They play truancy and won't listen in class. They even don't treat exams seriously. The author also finds that online games, which are changing the lives of college students, leads to learning disabilities of many returning students, especially those majoring in science and engineering. Finally, returning students generally have great pressure. Downgrade returning students are faced with greater interpersonal stress than valet ones. Science and engineering returning students are confronted with greater academic pressure than arts ones.
