Factors Of Individual Creativity: Emotion And Personality

Guilford noted that creativity is a component of intelligent, everyone has the ability butdiversity in the level. Guoliang Yu believes that creativity is using all information and carry outactive thinking activities according to a certain purpose information,to produce some kind ofintellectual product of quality,unique and social or personal value. To be creativity creativity notonly individual level of creativity thinking,but also specific environment to stimulate minds tointegrate various information. Individual’s creative level is relatively stable,But the environmental conditions can be adjusted. Therefore,how to make one’s creativemaximization according to adjusting environment.In our study,we use the Big Five personalityto divided subjects into groups,and to explore the difference of basic creativity level during thefive groups; we use different emotions as environment conditions to explore whether it affectindividual creative and how it works of different personalities in different emotions.Early studies on the relationship between personality traits and creativity focused on exploringthe different levels of creative in different personalities. The result of studies is diversityaccording to the different research methods. Most research on emotion and creative are focus onthe diversity of creativity levels in different emotions.On the basis of the previous two research,our aim of research is to explore how to adjust emotion condition to make one’s creativemaximization in different personalities. the different personalities groups in different emotionalstates, their creative energy to get to what extent the level of play. Based on this researchpurposes, we designed the preliminary experiment and two formal experiments. Preliminaryexperiment is to test the reliability and validity of experimental materials; experiment I is toverify wether the emotional atmosphere will affect the individual in the creative process based ona major review of the research; Experiment II creatively explore whether there are differencesbetween personality traits and what personality traits predict significant effect on individualcreativity and explore the Big Five personality traits and emotional state of the individualcreative play interactions. The study found:(1)The affection to individual creative by Emotion and it’s activation levels include the maineffect and their interaction effect.In negative emotional state, low levels of emotional activation in favor of free association taskperformance, high level of emotional activation is beneficial to function association and picturetask; in positive emotional state, High levels of emotional activation performed better than lowemotional activation level in three creative tasks. Whether it is positive or negative emotion,in ahigh tension and explode emotion (such as anger, happiness),the high level of emotionalactivation levels are conducive to put more energy and effort;but people will put more effort intask in the low level of emotional activation,if they are in low tension and explode emotion(suchas sadness).(2)Contrast the five personality, Openness individuals with the best performance in creativework, Extravagation individual performed better,Neuroticism,Agreeableness,and conscientious-ness responsibility individuals between the three personality traits did not reach significantstatistically tied ranks last.The personality differences in their respective levels of performance:the neurotic traits, low levels of neuroticism were tested in the creative task in a creativeperformance is superior to high levels of neuroticism subjects, mainly in the fluency of thoughtand Flexibility on; while other groups are personality traits, high levels of personality traits have better creative performance, this difference in the open nature of the most prominent.(3)The felling of the emotion and the creative performance is different by five personality indifferent emotion.Openness individuals are vulnerable to positively affect emotions, and in the atmosphere ofnegative emotions, emotional state is relatively stable; in the high tension and explode emotion,they have better performance in flexibility and fluency thinking, but not conducive to its missionfor more effort. While depressed and gentle emotions will inhibit their flexibility and fluencythinking, but in this emotional atmosphere Openness individual has more stronger willing tocomplete the task.Neuroticism individual don’t have a high level felling of emotion. High neurotic individuals’thinking is not flexible enough,but positive emotional state will increase their willingness andeffort to complete the task, and in the negative emotional state,they were like to make moreeffort on task.In the level of felling of emotion and creative performance, Extroversion individual neithertoo high nor too low. But they had good performance in the flexibility and fluency thinking.Agreeableness individuals is much susceptibility to negative emotions, it will weaken will-ingness to put more effort to complete the task. Compared with other personality, Agreeable-ness individuals’ fluency and flexibility of thinking performance are not prominent, but happyemotion will facilitate the performance of their thinking.The level of creative and felling of emotion of consciousness is relatively low. Compare to it’seffect to creation in different emotion,happy emotion is conduct to enhancing the their willingto complete the task, sad emotion will inhabit their thinking of flexibility and fluency, and angeremotion is benefit to their thinking of flexible and fluency.
