A Study On The Consistency Of Confidence And Trust In College Students

Trust is an inherent certainty which is people used to overcome the anxiety and unease caused by uncertainties. It is a complex and multidimensional mental process, trusting yourself is self-confidence, and trusting others is others-trust. So what is the relationship between self-confidence and others-trust since both of their essence is trust?In this study, I have selected363young college students as my subjects in order to reveal the consistency between the two kinds of trust through the questionnaires.The results showed that:(1) there was a significant gender differences in the overall level of others-trust, girls are higher than boys; graduates are higher than undergraduates on behavioral trust; students in key universities are higher than those in the normal university in the dimensions of behavioral trust;(2) there was also a significant gender differences in the overall level of self-confidence, on every dimensions boys are higher than girls except for the social self-confidence; Graduates are higher than undergraduates on school self-confidence and the whole self-confidence; In the physical self confidence, people in the normal university is higher than those in the key institutions, art major above other professionals, rural than urban.(3) The two kinds of trust have a positive correlation with each other. The higher is the self-confidence, the stronger is the others-trust.
