Physical education is to strengthen and improve college students’ psychological health needs of the development of the times, is the need for the healthy growth of the students themselves. Dance sport is a sport with art performance in physical education, learning through the female college students, help them change body shape, improve the cognitive level, training of art appreciation and expressive force, promote their physical and mental health, so as to form a high self-esteem, stable psychological ability. In this study, a Sichuan Normal University undergraduate non sports professional female as60objects of study, the sports dance for the experimental teaching of public physical education, mainly using the SCL-90scale and Xu Xia (2001) adapted physical self-esteem scale (PSPP), through15weeks of30hours of learning, research on Sports Dance impact on mental health and body esteem of college female students. All the data using SPSS.13statistical analysis draw the following conclusion:1Through seven weeks of experimental teaching, the two groups had no significant difference in mental health, the experimental group of symptoms before the experiment and control group there were significant differences in the body, after7weeks of practice, has been greatly improved; in the body self-esteem, the two groups had no significant difference, but the experimental group in sports ability, physical attraction of the two factor scores were significantly higher than that of the control group.2After15weeks of exercise, mental health of female college students in the experiment, anxiety, hostility and fear than control group were significantly different (P <0.05); in the body self-esteem, each dimension indexes of experiment group were significantly higher than that of the control group, and P<0.01, showed very significant difference the sports dance, with its project characteristics.3The experimental group female students are significant differences in mental health and all dimensions of physical self-esteem level and before the experiment, especially in the body self-esteem changes significantly (P<0.01). The sports dance teaching content as public class, can effectively improve the learner’s mental health and the level of body esteem.4Through the experiment of15weeks, the experimental group and the control group of PE curriculum content can improve their mental health level and the level of body esteem, but in some dimensions of sports dance shows its advantages, especially the influence on physical self-esteem, the effect was better in the content of general public class.
